What inspired you to launch your own website?

The demands of business.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Blimey. This goes back... I believe it was Big Bill's Star Trek Stuff! back in .94. It's still out there if anyone wants to search for it.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It named itself really!

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

The depth of experience I have gives me a perspective that the relative newbies simply can't bring to the table.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

My goal is to keep my mind alive doing the work. I plan on still being in the business in my dotage, and I look forward to it.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Worthwhile no question.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I might get a pro in to redesign it but from looking at the poor quality of such a lot of pro output that's out there I might as well carry on myself.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I'd do what I do now, stick with the clients I get on with.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None I can think of.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Motivation some days.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

SEO.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I don't know that it has.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I've run it since it began, and I'll continue to do so. Think in terms of prising it from my cold dead hands...

What kind of clients do you prefer?

Small business, no doubt about it. You absolutely MUST develop a good working relationship with the person that actually runs the show and the corporate business model doesn't allow for that.
