Billboard Alley Web Design Interview

Name of your website?

Billboard Alley Web Design

Your name?

Shane Horner

Your Location (city, etc)

Boise, Idaho

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Billboard Alley is a boise based web design firm. Billboard Alley offers web design, search engine optimization, hosting, print media.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

After spending nearly 7 years working for other web design companies, I felt it was time to start my own web design firm.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

My first website was launched back in 2001. It was a really poorly designed e-commerce website. Now, after spending many years designing, I can safely say that I have improved vastly.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

A friend of mine told me that if I wasn't marketing my business then I was about as good as a billboard in an alley. I thought that really stuck out, so that is what I named my business. So the name is kind of a segue into helping other businesses out from being a billboard in an alley.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We offer the same services that all other web companies do: design, print, hosting, and search engine optimization.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

My goal is to create a steady stream of clientele that will enable my business to be self sustaining.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

If I had an unlimited budget I could use it to hire more developers and a marketing team. As it is right now it is a one man show. Of course a larger budget ultimately mean being more expansive.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Simply said: word of mouth. It seems that that is the best business that I can get. People telling other people is the best marketing.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I have run this site for 2 months. I have my existing clients so I will never shut the site down. Money doesn't make or break my site. It is very affordable to keep up and keeping it up is a great advertisement.

What is your website address?
